Getting back from Joshua Tree I realized how much I love what I do. I have been content with it all but I have not been able to feel the love. Now i do: bruised and battered hands, sun burns and hang overs, fear and adrenalin, laughs and smiles, good food and full moons, and of course the lack of real responsibility. But, all great things must come to an end...and now this is up. Time to head back to Michigan soon and try and finish up my degree. But of course, between now and then i can squeeze a few things in. I plan on taking a detour to Jackson Hole, WY for a few days and then onward.

Any ways, Yosemite was great to me this summer. New to multi-pitch, crack, and trad climbing, i was able to make quick progress with a few classic assents up El Cap, Fairview Dome, and a few of the Cathedrals. Thanks, Ill be back

Lucky us! The rain stopped and the sun poked though the dense mist clouds mix. Les and I met at 1 PM and were climbing at 2. We spend most of our two days climbing at the base of El Capitan, excluding Reeds Pinnacle. We climbed a lot of the test pieces including Stackercracker, Moby Dick, and Reeds Direct, all great climbs. I felt fortunet to climb in such condition. Though it was muggy within the trees, the view above the trees relieved low flying clouds over taking the Cathedrals. The sun was indecisive, either shinning or at a bay behind the mist. Bridalveil and Yosemite Falls flowed like I once remembered during my first visits.

As of now i sit and watch shitty television, eat left overs, and think "what to do next"?

A New Start

This summer i was lucky to land an internship with Southern Yosemite Mountain Guides (website here) Thanks to Rob Segula, i found myself amongst an amazing collective of people with passions equal to mine. With the combination of great people, amazing adventures, and Yosemite/Sequoia-Kings Canyon i was given a summer an awesome summer and a start of a new era.

Wednesday I will be climbing with Les, who i met during my WFR course. The weather is calling for flash floods for tonight and tomorrow. If things go as planned, the weather will clear and we will have an open window to climb.

Les belays on pitch 4 - Fairview Dome, Regular Route (5.9)
